Our cakes
A flavour of what we bake. Every cake is made to order, so the descriptions below are guides, not a fixed menu. If you have a flavour, design, or theme in mind that isn't here, ask. We've made everything from a giant Lego brick birthday cake to a five-tier sugar-flower wedding piece.
Wedding cakes
Wedding cakes are roughly half of what we bake. Most are tiered (2–5 tiers) but we also make a lot of single-tier "cutting cakes" alongside a separate dessert table. We design in consultation — typically a 1-hour meeting four to six months before the wedding, with a deposit at the design-sign-off stage.
Two-tier classic
The most-asked-for wedding shape. Two tiers, smooth iced or semi-naked, with sugar-flower or ribbon detail. Serves 60–80.
Three-tier classic
Three tiers in proportional sizing. The middle tier is usually a different flavour from the top and bottom, so all guests get a flavour they'd like. Serves 80–130.
Four- and five-tier feature cakes
Larger feature pieces with significant decoration — sugar flowers, gold leaf, isomalt sails, hand-piped detail. Serves 130–200+. Made for one wedding per weekend only.
Cutting cake
A small "for the photos" cake that pairs with a sweet table of cupcakes, brownies, and other bakes. Popular when the venue runs the dessert course themselves.
Wedding cupcake tower
40–80 hand-decorated cupcakes on a tiered stand. A relaxed alternative to a traditional cake; works well for outdoor weddings and smaller guest counts.
Birthday & celebration cakes
Birthdays are most of what fills the calendar outside of wedding season. Children's cakes (themed, novelty, character) sit alongside adult milestone cakes (40th, 50th, 60th, 70th, 80th, 90th. We've baked plenty of all of them) and the occasional "just because" cake.
Small birthday cake (serves 8–12)
Round or square, single layer or stacked, with simple lettering and basic decoration. Most popular size for family birthdays.
Medium birthday cake (serves 14–25)
Two-layer round or square cake, with more decorative detail — themed designs, hand-painted, or character cakes for children.
Milestone birthday cake (serves 25–50)
Larger 40th, 50th, 60th-plus birthday cakes. Often two-tier, often with photo-edible-prints, sugar plaque, or themed novelty work.
Novelty / sculpted cake
Sculpted designs — vehicles, characters, animals, hobbies, sports themes. The classic "wow" birthday cake for a child or hobbyist. Pricing depends on complexity.
Christenings, baby showers & family occasions
Christening cake
Traditional white-iced cakes with sugar-flower or hand-piped detail, or contemporary semi-naked styles. Usually serves 20–40.
Baby shower cake
Pastel-themed, often with gender-reveal options. We're happy to keep the reveal a secret if you're after that surprise.
Anniversary cake
Recreations of the original wedding cake style — silver, ruby, golden anniversaries are the most-requested. Bring a photo of the original if you have one.
Engagement cake
Less common than wedding cakes but increasingly asked-for. Often a single dramatic tier with bold colour or detail.
Flavours
We carry a core set of flavours we make week in, week out, plus seasonal flavours that rotate. All cakes can be made in any of these flavours. The design and the flavour are independent choices.
Core flavours
- Classic vanilla — Madagascar vanilla sponge with vanilla buttercream
- Lemon — Lemon sponge with lemon curd filling and lemon buttercream
- Chocolate — Belgian dark chocolate sponge with chocolate ganache
- Red velvet — Classic recipe with cream cheese frosting
- Coffee & walnut — Coffee sponge with walnut pieces, coffee buttercream
- Carrot & orange — Spiced carrot sponge with orange-infused cream cheese frosting
- Madeira — A dense, buttery sponge that holds up to heavy decoration; popular for tiered wedding cakes
Seasonal flavours
- Spring: lemon & elderflower, rhubarb & ginger
- Summer: strawberries & cream, raspberry & white chocolate
- Autumn: apple & cinnamon, salted caramel, sticky toffee
- Winter: spiced fruit cake, chocolate orange, mulled-wine sponge
Dietary & allergens
We can make gluten-free, vegan, and dairy-free versions of most of our flavours. Nut-free cakes require advance notice because we keep separate equipment for nut-free baking. Allergens are taken seriously. Tell us at the consultation stage and we'll plan around it, not work around it.
We can't 100% guarantee a trace-free environment for severe allergies. We share a kitchen with general baking, so airborne flour and trace cross-contact are possible. For severe allergies, talk to us directly so we can be honest about what's realistic.
